CASANOVA REVIEW

Casanova, the much-awaited movie of mohanlal was released on January 26 last movie. Expectation was too big for the movie for this Roshan Andrews directed movie. The main cast of the movie includes Mohanlal, Shreya Saran, Lalu Alex, Jagathy Sreekumar, Lakshmi Rai and Roma. CJ Roy CEO of 4000 crore worth Confident Group is the producer of the movie and it can be considered as the biggest risk ever taken by any malayale producer to invest 16 crore in malyalam movie. Max lab entertaintment has distributed all over world in 200 screens. Movie as expected from any lal movie released with huge expectation among Mohanlal fans as well as the Malayalam movie lovers.

The movie is about Casanova, owner of eternal spring international chain of flower boutiques spread all over world. As the Casanova we read in books and Internet he is like playboy who like mingle with girls. The movie starts with a cathedral robbery by 4 masked robbers who has spectacular acrobatic skills. Then they plan a new robbery plan during a marriage reception of billionaire’s daughter marriage. Casanova was also the chief guest of the reception then Casanova tries to trap the robbers with the help of Lakshmi rai and Roma. Then the movie goes with the serious twist and turns. The movie gives important message “love can heal the crime”.

Mohanlal as usual he performed his part well. His natural style and easiness in acting stamped the movie in his name. he was exceptional in bike race , action sequence etc. The helicopter chase , comedy sequence by Jagathy and mohanlal, three songs and stylish interval punch made the movie an exceptional one. But second half seems to be little dragging in progressing story. If Roshan Andrews made the movie with little care in Mohanlal introduction song and Mohanlal and Shreya Saran combination scenes then movie will  much better.  

Shriya saran ha done a decent job and there wasn’t much to be done for Lakshmi Rai and Roma. Roshan Andrews as done a decent job and he could have been better if he is given better script and we an expect wonders from coming movies. When we look on cinematography Jim Ganesh was one of the best part which helped to bring a texture beauty to the movie. Bobby Sanjay can make better script than as they shown in the movies like traffic, notebook etc hope they will be back with good fruit next time. Music by Alphonse and Gopi Sundar is good especially ommanichu song. Editing done by Mahesh Narayan was good and was able to cope up with the story telling. Back ground music done by the Gopi Sundar was having an international standard and it helped director give feeling to the audience.

                           Overall the movie is one time watch, and it makes the viewer to glued to the seat till intermission. This movie is in the opposite pole of all traditional Malayalam movies. It could be better if director more effort in second half. The movie is clean masala entertainer with predictable stuff. Watch Casanova who like see new stuff that Malayalam movie industry never seen.
